I seek in my art what I seek in life: grace, beauty, truth, wisdom and peace. I strive to unveil nature’s subtle mysteries. Paring back elements of nature to its essence, my work allows the viewer to catch a glimpse of how it feels to exist in the perceived landscape.
Katherine McDowell is a versatile visual artist currently focusing on monotype printmaking – handmade, one-of-a-kind prints made by applying ink to a plate and running it through a hand-cranked press with printmaking paper. Her current series of over 450 “Lake Monotype” prints has been widely shown and purchased since its inception in 2008.
Prints from this series have been selected for 11 solo exhibitions regionally and accepted into over 50 national juried group exhibitions. Katherine is represented by The Portland Art Museum’s Rental Sales Gallery. She teaches monotype workshops and is a member of Los Angeles Printmaking Society, Print Arts Northwest, The Monotype Guild of New England and The Boston Printmakers.
